Getting braces off temporarily...and then back on again?

#1 Post by Silliry »

Hi! This is my first post...I'm glad to have found this community! I'm getting my braces on this Thursday, July 26. I've been told that my treatment time will be 12-14 months. I've had braces in the past, but for a number of reasons it didn't really work out, so I'm at it again.

Here's my question...11 months after the braces are on, I'm getting married. During my consult I asked the assistant if there was any way my treatment could actually only be 11 months, so they will be off in time for the wedding. She said that they could just take the front brackets off for the wedding, and then have them reapplied. Has anyone done something similar? I'm going to ask again on Thursday, just to make sure I understood correctly. It won't be the worst thing ever if I have braces on my wedding day...but I'd rather not!

Thanks!

My daughter and I both had ours taken off 2 days before her wedding. They removed everything except the molar bands. Removed on Thursday, put back on Tuesday. Cost was $150 for each of us. It was so worth it especially for her. Even the orthodontist agreed....he said, yes, definitely you want them off for your wedding.

I was very glad to get mine back on though as some teeth were already moving back.
