Crowns and Braces Removal?

#1 Post by Sherri »

Has anyone ever had there braces removed from a crown? I don't know how hard they pull, its not one of the teeth that is bracketed, but I still have visions of the crown flying off!

I had the same fear. When they removed my braces I also had a band on a crown. I expressed that I was concerned that the crown would come off and they sort of laughed at me in a good hearted way saying no way! They were right, the band on the crown was removed by rocking rather than pulling if that helps. However, I think some of it depends on how well cemented the crown is. This particular crown came off within my first three days of having braces. It was a fairly old crown and the cement was weak apparently. After recementing it, it was fine throughout my period in braces and the removeal of my braces. Good luck!
