Nearing end .. keep biting brackets off

I have had my braces for 2 1/2 years. I never broke a bracket until the last couple of months and several times in the last month I wake up and a bracket is hanging. Every bracket I have broke has been in my sleep. Is this common in the last few months of being braced? I'm guessing that I am also grinding my teeth if they are coming off while I'm asleep.
