What color ligs to get for my 1st time? + a LIG Question??

#1 Post by britt27 »

Okay so I have exactly 2 weeks before my braces are on :-#)
SO what color lig-bands(I think thats what they are called-- ligature bands?) anyways, which color should I get? I keep thinking pink, I love pink!! Or light purple like a violet, those colors looked pretty on the pics I saw on the lig-color page. Or should I go with the white my 1st time?? Do you even get to pick the colors yourself the 1st time they are put on? My braces are going to be the metal ones. What do ya'll think?? What was your first color?

LIG QUESTION:
I am familiar with the little circular looking ligs that go around the brackets. But I looked on the lig colors topic while searching for a color and saw different types of ligs? Some were all connected and covered the archwire? What type are these, are they new? Are they commonly used or does if have to do with the different types of treatment? I have never seen them before.

Thanks Karen!! I will defenalty get to reading. Yes that is the ligs I saw on the bottom in the grape color. So it is called a powerchain, okay I'm still learning. I wonder if my ortho will use powerchains he didn't mention anything of the sort at the consultation but I guess we'll see in 2 weeks!!!! I'm counting down! :D

Just get your favorite color. Mine is also pink. I got light pink the first time, fuschia the second. LOVED the fuschia as it stayed nice looking the whole time. This last time I got lime green---no likey so much. Will go back to pink/fuschia next time for sure.

I'm getting clear braces today after work. I'm also flip-flopping on whether or not to get colored ligs. The reason why I chose the clear braces was to try to make them less noticeable in general. However I do smoke so I don't want nasty yellow ligs either. I think adding some color would be fun, but I worry that I might feel like a little kid especially at work. Thoughts?

I've taken a liking to some color, I do smoke but the staining of my ligs come from the random staining foods I eat. Because I always forget when I have clear and when I have color. You can check out my link but the stained clear I just posted last night was from eating crawfish with super spicey cajun seasoning. Nothing to do with my smoking.

I am also getting metal braces. I am getting mine on the 22nd. I am either going with pink or blue.

Well I have clear uppers and metal lowers ( clear is included in price for all adult patients) I chose pink for my first colors, and I have to say they look very nice against the clear. They actually made my teeth look whiter :). The weird part about it is that I am 27 and chose pink, but the teenager who came in for adjustment didnt like flashy colors and chose clear :). you can use this link below to look at various colors and what they would look like on metal brackets. And your ortho should have a color wheel of the different colors that they have :) enjoy.

CarolinaHigh- Hahaha that happened to me too! I wanted colors and the younger girls next to me were saying "No, I just want clear, silver or grey. I don't want colors." for their metal braces. How embarrassing for someone to notice colors on their train tracks. Oh geez! I just went on looking about and asking about staining. They looked at me like I was infectious with something deadly.
