Ok... so I'm a mouth breather and in the morning I have very dry teeth... the edges are turning lighter than the rest of the teeth. I brought this up to my ortho. He said it wasnt decalcifications (like i was afraid) but my teeth are dry. So he said vaseline all over mouth and teeth at night before bed. Anyone heard this before?

Yes. Way back in the last millenium a dentist suggested I do this. It didn't really work for me, as I still found I had a dry mouth in the morning.

I live in a really dry climate so am used to this bedtime routine: bottle or glass of water next to the bed, put on hand lotion, slather Eucerin Aquaphor on my lips and any other dry spots, which is sort of like Vaseline (it's just mineral oil). I put it on the insides of my lips to help keep them from sticking to my braces when I wake up in the morning. Works! Hey, afterall, models put Vaseline on their teeth!

oh ick :yuck: eating some? That must have been pretty exciting :? blaa

I had the same problem, where I live it gets SUPER dry because we get SMOTHERED with snow etc... we have winter like 9 months out of the year... I tried the vasoline thing and it just grossed me out. So, now I actually use "lip balm" I use either Bath & BodyWorks' lip balm or Burt's Bee's mostly because they're minty flavored so you don't really feel nasty having it all over your mouth/teeth.

Yeah pageant girls do that, I did it for dance competitions, we didn't want our lips sticking to our teeth while we're dancing around the stage trying to keep our form. By the end of one routine our mouths would be so dry, our lips would stick to our teeth and we'd be super thristy. Vaseline helped lock in enough moisture to keep us smiling without a hitch.
