Question for Dr. Jones

My dentist wants to put a bonded retainer on my uppers and lowers. I can't find anybody else who has had both sets bonded. Is this unorthodox? Is there any known drawback to bonding the uppers?

He is not planning on a removable retainer also. What does lateral refer to? What else needs to be done? Also, what keeps the front teeth from migrating away from the molar?

My ortho plans on bonded on uppers and lowers, but I will also have removable retainers.
