i had gum contouring done 4 days ago to corrcet a gummy smile and my gums are turning white as they heal. As anyone else had this done? Is this white colouring normal. I also have had braces for 6 months now

I had the gum contouring prior to braces and I did have a few spots of white and when I went back for my postop check my dentist told me I probably wasn't keeping it clean enough. After a few days of really doing the warm salt water rinses (like at least 5-6x a day) it cleared up and healed well. Swish the saltwater very vigorously for at least one minute each time. I cannot stress enough how much the saltwater helped heal everything up nicely. I also brushed with a soft toddler toothbrush. You should call to double check with your dentist also. GL!

I am wanting to get a gum lift on four of my top teeth. I have been in braces for 3 weeks now. Should I wait intil I remove them or get it done now?
I wasn't sure if I could, but I saw this post and I guess it's ok then.

I too, am hoping to get this done - but my dentist thinks it's best to wait 3-4 months after ortho treatment, so your teeth are where they're going to be... :)

The white color during healing is completely normal. It is fibrin (a connective tissue) that is one of the first tissues to establish after the surgery.

Hi candycin, sorry can't help with your query but I'd love to see some before/after pictures when you are all healed up. I'm considering having this procedure done when I have my braces removed and love seeing pics of the results :)

good luck with the healing :)
