Archwire popping out.

#1 Post by jenni11 »

I am not sure why, and I thinking that it might have to do with eating. But twice now the archwire has been popping out of the top left bracket. it just pops out of the little hole. And I just pop it back in but I am wondering do my braces still work? or is there something wrong? I really should call my ortho and I will but I thought I would ask here too. 8)

jenni, I had the same problem for the first few months I had my braces, and as it turns out the wire was not trimmed short enough. I used wax on the ends and at the ortho's office the assistant simply trimmed the wire and made sure the buccal tube was tight enough.

this happens to me, and for the life of me, i can never get the archwire back in the buccal tube, because of the self litigating brackets on my lower arch. I end up driving over to my ortho's office to get the wire popped back in. It's very annoying.
