LALA's GETTING RE-BRACED

#1 Post by Lala7603 »

ok all
well lala is getting re-braced on tuesday...november 6th.
6 months in braces and im only paying a timy bit(my ortho cut me a price break)

i am bound and determined to have my perfect teeth back. Treatment time is estimated to be 6 months....but im really in no hurry.

i have to decide if i want to get silver or gold braces.....im thinking silver because i wear all silver jewelry(and i had silver and ceramics the first time) but i heard that the gold look nice. i wouldnt mind ceramics again but for the price im getting.....yea....ceramics are not included in there. i'm not the same person i was when i got braces(almost 4 years ago) so i think i will just get regular ones.

oh and this time im actually going to get colors....the first time around i only got pink and light blue the last few months of my treatment.

EVERYONE...BE INVOLVED WHEN YOUR BRACES ARE OFF!!! i wore my retainers but had so many problems with them and was too scared to speak up and now i am going to be back in braces.

Smiles everyone

Hi,

I admit I saw this coming. I had between treatment 2 and 3 a Hawley to correct
my laterals. Mine did just like yours. As soon as the braces were removed, they
started hiding again. This Hawley just couldn't correct this, even more, it ruined
all lining of my front teeth. After some months, it looked like I never had braces,
all results were gone. Once I had braces again, it only took about some months to
get them aligned again. So, your ortho is probably very right that it will only take
some months. But after that, you need a much better retention. Like a bonded
retainer also on the upper teeth.

So, welcome back ! It is probably the best decision you could make to regain the
results you once had. I hope your mother is now also a bit more supportive.

thanks all

i am glad that i will get all of this fixed before my teeth move even more.

my mom doesnt really care....she still thinks my teeth are fine but says its my decision and all.....

my ortho mentioned not getting bonded retainers....they actually caused more harm than good in my case....my bonded retainers breaking caused my teeth to shift in the first place.....

i knew getting out of braces 11 months sooner than expected was just too good to be true.

OK NOW SHOULD I GET GOKD OR SILVER BRACES ALL????

I HAVE HEARD THAT THE GOLD LOOK MORE NATURAL BUT I DONT WANT IT TO LOOK LIKE A GHETTO GRILL IN MY MOUTH!

SOME INPUT OR PICTURES WOULD BE AWESOME IF ANYONE HAS THEM

THANKS EVERYONE

It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm impressed that you're so positive. I'm not sure how I'd feel going into braces again after such a short time as a "speed flosser." I know that I was more than a bit nervous and upset to do it a second time with only twenty five years between treatments.

I find it interesting that you recognize that you're not the same person as you were four years ago. I think that is one factor that gives you a much better outlook on this little detour than most would have.

Good luck and enjoy this six months of a shiny grin!

Mike
I wore braces (this time) for 1294 days or 3 years, 6 months and 17 days.

oh man....im getting nervous now. i just cant believe that i am doing this again....

it hit me now....i guess they biggest difference to me will be the way i look....but right now i lok at my teeth and im not totally happy anymore so i guess its just for the greater good. i just have liked the fact that people can finally tell i am 19 now and cant believe i will be going back to looking a lot younger. when i had braces people used to think that my boyfriend was my brother.....it was aggravating. im just glad that my boyfriend doesnt care. he knows that it is important to me and doesnt care.

its just different because the first time i had ceramics and was able to be a little discrete and now it will be WOW.....im just a little nervous about my first look ya know. i just keep telling myself that they will be off before next summer and i will start on my bachelors degree with my perfect teeth back and i will get to have my 21st birthday with my perfect teeth back.

its just really hard...but ill just roll with it. its now....or things get worse and i do it later....so its best that i get it over with now.

it may seem like i am upbeat...but im really not. i just know this is what has to be done and i might as well make the best of it.

i guess if there were less time between getting my braces off...it wouldnt be that big of a deal.....but its been 3 years.....thats a long time...at least it is to me.

i think i will go with the silver..more like i know when im asked i will not be able to make up my mind and i will just go with the silver.

this may sound odd...but i think it will last a little less that 6 months.....i was quoted 2 years for braces originally and it took me 13 months.....what can i say...my teeth move fast. i think my ortho said 6 months so that i would know the longest time ya know.

i just hope that i am making the right decision. i know that i would regret not getting my perfect teeth back later in life so i just have to suck it up and do this.....

i am not looking forward to all of the canker sores. i am VERY prone to them and had then almost 24/7 when i had braces the first time around.
oh and im not looking forward to some aspects of my personal life....with my boyfriend  ....but hes ok with it....as long as its only for a short time

ill try to post pictures tomorrow...providing that im not too upset. i am a very moody person....so who knows with me.

well ill post again tomorrow

Hi lala, I've been reading you story and it sucks to have to get braces again, but I wanted to know that you are not alone. I had them when I was younger (12-15ish) and my teeth have shifted so I will have braces again soon too (for sure on the bottom - see my earlier post for the whole story). When I was younger, I really did not care about straightening my teeth or oral health, so I never complied with the ortho and it got me back here, now forking the $$ out of my own pocket. My husband always says to me that there is nothing with my teeth but they bother me. I'm glad your boyfriend supports you!

Just keep your chin up and you'll be fine. Your lucky you will still be in college, its really not a big deal - I bet barely anyone will notice and if you pay attention, there are a probably a lot of other people with braces too. I look younger than 25 so I feel the same way (You should have seen the looks when I was pregnant with my son!)

Anyways, I look forward ot hearing your progress and keep your chin up. You'll be fine and soon you'll have that perfect smile again :D

Hmmmmm......If you don't want your braces to stand out go with the silver. Everyone is used to seeing silver and they wont draw as much attention as the gold.

ok so i got my braces and i got silver. i figured that i would just overall like the silver better. it wasnt as easy as the first time i got my braces on tho. i got uppers and lower on yesterday...and got a bonded retainer removed. i can deal with the pain of getting cement removed when i know i will be getting my braces off and have nice teeth....but the pain before all of that kind of sucks. oh well....

the assistant had a hell of a time getting my wires on....throwing in a comment of this is going to hurt tomorrow...lol

i got clear ligs. i really wasnt asked....she just said im guessing clear ligs and i said yes. i really knew that i would be shocked by the all metal look after having metals and ceramics and knew i would be sorry if i got the colors. i will save that for next time. ok well here are some pictures....my teeth have actually moved some before i took these pictures.

Hi,

maybe I am wrong, but I think both your lower arch and your upper laterals look
already better !

I understand why. You already got square ones if I see this right. This is quite some
start you are having there. Good luck !
