Bye bye braces

#1 Post by lionfish »

Yup, no more braces - after 2 hours in the chair, I walked out of the office this morning with a bottle of bubbles and a heap of credit towards a photo session (both totally unexpected).

While I'm happy with the way they look now, they will get even better. I'll be getting a positioner in 3 weeks time which will lock everything in, prior to which I'll have a temporary retainer to hold things in place. Had to have 2 sets of moulds done, thank goodness I don't have a gag reflex.

What everyone else said about teeth feeling slimy is so true. This is the weirdest feeling.

It has been so worth it, I know I vacillated for 35 years but better late than never.

You're all too kind. I think I'll stick around for a while yet, this place is sort of habit forming.

Had my first meal sans braces....just about nothing got stuck anywhere. Luxury.

Congratulations! That is fantastic news, enjoy your freedom!

I've got a question for you - I have been thinking about this for myself lately... Did you lisp or anything (like when linguals go on) when they came off?

Anyhow best wishes!

Interesting question, ruby tuesday.

I worked hard at the "s" sound while braced, and I think I mostly mastered it. Now that I don't have to think about it, I find myself hissing like a steam engine! Erk!

BTW, anyone in Aussie, Darrell Lea are celebrating their 80th birthday and are giving away licorice bags for 80c - 2 per customer, if you buy anything else in the store and it can be anything e.g. one bon bon. Well, that was today anyway, but could be tomorrow too. That was after I spent $35 on choccies at Haighs....if the queue at the Lindt shop hadn't been long, I would have stocked up there too.

Lionfish I'm so happy for you :D

Enjoy your slimy teeth and the freedom to eat whatever you like. Could you please have a nice crunchy apple for me.

Wow! Can't wait until I get my braces off!!! All these stories make me so excited! Well, that time is light years away! :(

I want my braces off for June 2008! Can anyone give me options for that?
I am going on a cruise then and I want perfect teeth for that event!
I thought of two! What do you think? Do you have any other ideas?

1. Temporary removal!
What I think: Great! a Temporary Vacation, but I want them off for good.

2. Less noticeable braces!
What I think: Well, I don't know if I am a candidate for invisalign (I haven't lost all my teeth yet, only one more!).

CONGRATULATIONS LIONFISH!! :D
It must be so good to have naked teeth, and nice straight ones at that.
Brushing your teeth must be SO easy now.
YAY FOR YOU!! :jump:  :-88

Thanks all.

Lisa, I'm not a big apple eater at the best of times but I'll do this for you!

Ken, I'm not quitting this board until you're done, mate, and then some.

CB, yes it's good to be 'naked', I have to admit that.

I've noticed that the Oral B floss doesn't do the job properly anymore so I went out today to buy something thicker.
