So, I've had my braces for two weeks now and have had a few teeth "clicking" and feeling a bit loose. I seem to remember this from the first time I had braces so have not been too worried.
However, for the past five days both of my lower second pre molars (bicuspids) have been rather wobbly, which didn't happen first time round. The one on the left side is affected most, if I push down on it to chew or gently push down with my finger it "clicks" downwards and can also be wobbled a bit side to side.
Has anyone else experience anything like this? Have searched the forum but not found that much about this topic. Please let me know if you think this is normal!!
This is normal. I had mine put on 12-12 and they are spongy feeling and kinda loose. It b/c of the roots of the teeth along with the tooth are trying to do what the braces are telling them too! As they do this, they will feel this way. I have had moments where mine feel really tight also. I think it also depends on how much you are chewing. Chewing does help with this process and the healing so just keep chewing and hydrating.
Thanks for the reply Mottsrods. The strange thing is that the teeth on either side of the loose tooth both feel very secure, almost "tight" as you mentioned in your post.
I know that I have a couple of lower teeth with shorter roots (can't remember which) caused by my first round of braces. Perhaps the most wobbly tooth is one of those and that is why it is so mobile. Hope it will survive, I have a long way to go yet with my treatment!
Ooh ya. Mine all clicked in the first month or so after being braced, and now they are all very wobbly, even 2+ years after the braces went on. Admittedly my teeth are currently very mobile as I had recent jaw surgery, (which makes them more mobile than usual due to post-surgical prostaglandin release), but I can push my teeth with a finger and see them move pretty easily.

Thank you for the replies and reassurance everyone. I have experienced the "spongy" feeling too during the first week, but that seems to have eased off now. I think the tooth I'm concerned about is beyond spongy though because I can actually make it move!
Tried calling my ortho yesterday to ask him about it, but he wasn't at work. The receptionist left a message for him to call me today, and I waited in all day, but he didn't get back to me Will try again tomorrow, as I don't want to be worrying about it over Christmas.
Thank you again for your support guys, I really appreciate it!
Thanks Denise and bracedagain. Tried calling my ortho again yesterday (Friday) but he was "on the other line" and the receptionist said she would get him to call me back -but he didn't! Grrrrrrr, guess he is too busy! It would have been good to talk to him before the holidays, I'll have to try again in the new year. Hopefully, by then the tooth will be a bit more stable anyway. Will let you know what happens, so that anyone searching for this kind of problem in future can be helped.
I had this problem for a while too. The best thing not to do is wiggle them with your fingers or tongue !! I did this for a while and it just made things worse. I have completely ignored the tooth and it seems to be set in place now
