ice cream? and good news

#1 Post by Corily »

Today is day 10 with braces & spacers. You may remember that I was having trouble flossing my teeth. Well, it did get better! No more bleeding and not nearly as much pain. The only teeth that are giving me trouble are the bottom front four--theyre still sore when I floss.

ALSO BEST NEWS THIS WEEK: I ATE CHICKEN SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM TODAY! lol, I am so happy I can chew normal things again! Eating things like soups, rice and macaroni and cheese was getting so old! My molars are feeling much much better. :D Today was the first day I ate something other than the things I listed. :jump:

One last thing: The paper my ortho gave me said not to eat ice cream... and somethign about it would break/crack brackets. When I eat ice cream I dont actually bite into it (because I have sensitive teeth anyway) so would eating ice cream or even drinking a milk shake still be a problem? I'm not sure if milkshakes classify as ice cream or not.

Yay!! You got to eat "real" food today!! :D About the ice cream though I'd call and ask your ortho just to be sure, because I don't know. And when you find out tell us why, because that sounds like an interesting question!!

Congrats on the braces! :D I've had my braces on for about a month, and I remember only eating soup for the first week! As for milkshakes and ice cream, I ate both and was fine. I actually had a milkshake right after I got them on. I think as long as the ice cream is a little soft you should be fine. :D

I'd be really interested to know what they tell you. Of ALL the things my ortho told me not to eat, ice cream was definitely not one of them! I think I would've been DEVASTATED!!!

I eat ice cream a lot. I have never broken anything for that reason (eating).
It's okay!
Glad you are back to normal foods! :) :jump:

PS: I eat bagels a lot. I don't know why they are on the no-no list :?

ice cream

My ortho said if im having pain to eat cold things LIKE ICE CREAM to ease the pain because the wires try to go straight when they are warmed up (to mouth temp) but relax a bit when cold and then ease the pain. so, hmm, opposites advises..

I, like everyone else, think eating ice cream should be fine. I eat it with no problem. I think the thing you need to worry about is hard ice cream where the freezer has made it really cold and would leave the possibility for ice chunks. Also ice cream with hard ingredients such as nuts, chocolate chips, etc should be avoided or eaten carefully. maybe your ortho just said no to all ice cream in order to avoid everything. i would ask for clarification

I'm happy to read this about ice cream.

I love it so much I think if I had to,
I'd let it melt and drink it ! ! ! !
