Anyone ever had their tonsils taken out as an adult? I may be getting this surgery as well as getting braces + a herbst appliance at the end of the month...am I digging into a deep hole that I shouldn't be?
Hi, I had my tonsils out 3 and a half years ago, Im 26 now! I used to get be ill with them at least once a month, started getting it when I was about 17 and it took them ages to finally agree for them to be taken out! It wasn't that bad - in hospital overnight then off work for 2 weeks. I was sore for 2 - 3 days but that was it, by the end of my fist week I was out and about again. Just take pain killers and gargle with painkillers!!
I had my tonsils out about 4 years ago when I was 21. It was same day surgery and my throat felt a little sore and was weird swallowing for a few days, but after that no probs and have been healthy as a dog ever since. Also I/m not sure what method they use but if they use the lasers to burn them off, you can taste that burning smell for a little while.
Thanks for the help...it was nice hearing some positive results for people around my age. I am 20 and just extremly tired of being sick several times a month...resulting in missing about 2-3 days of work a month! Thanks so much for the help, it is very reassuring.
