What do powerchains on front teeth look like?

Hi there,

I've been reading a couple of threads where people have talked about having powerchains on their front teeth, to close a gap at the front. Does anyone have a pic of what that looks like?

I have what I think are powerchains at the sides. I had one tooth extracted at either side, to make room to straighten my teeth out, and I think these chains are starting to pull the teeth back. I'm guessing my teeth might get gappy at the front at some point, as a result, and I'm curious as to whether the chains at the front will look very obvious.

Thanks! I really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences on this forum - it makes such a difference.

Here's a link to how my powerchains were set up to close my extraction gaps and led to other gaps opening between the canines and laterals.

Ooh! Thank you for the pics :)

I was being a bit dull, I think. I had seen some pics like this on the forum, but I hadn't realised they were powerchains... I think I was imagining that somehow just my front two teeth would be linked together, which I thought would look a bit odd!

I will definitely have to ask about coloured powerchains... my ortho hasn't mentioned them, but maybe that's because I've only got them on the few teeth at the side, at the moment... does anyone have experience of having a choice of coloured powerchains here in the UK, or is it more of a N. America thing??

Thanks again :)

My ortho stocks a rainbow of colors in powerchains and encourages us to choose them.

I'm in the UK and my ortho only had clear chains. Also, members of the public are not allowed to purchase orthodontic equipment in the UK. I got round it by buying some coloured chains from the USA and having them posted over :D
