Hello Everyone, I'm John and just had the brackets and wires installed today. I particularly enjoyed everyones posts going back a few weeks ago when I first started working on getting this done. I think the wire spacers were worse than the actual braces. My teeth are hurting a little, especially the bottom, but I'm hanging in. I saw someone's post, (I think Lynn's) about her son showing off his o rings in school colors. Well, that's what I did. I went with the high school colors. They didn't have my college's colors. Anyway, when my son's swimming team starts back, I may switch to his. Take care all.
Congratulations to you!!! And glad you're brave enough to show the school spirit. I have colored ligs myself but not for a school they are my girls favorite colors (pink and purple imagine that). You may be sore for a few days just remember water and wax.
Thanks for your reply. I may get pink next time just to prove I'm a real man! It's funny, as a teen i never would have thought about that. As an adult, I could really care less. I may even get flourescent green or something just to spite everyone.
Congrats and welcome to the club! I got colored ligs too...mine are baby pink! Your teeth will hurt for the next few days but there is light outside of the tunnel. They will feel better after the 4th day. And like Katt said, wax is your friend.
neon green, how did you know what my next color choice would be lol.... I'm with you on the not caring part. I figure I have to wear these things and I am making an effort to correct something so why not make the best of it.
Did anyone else's literature say not to drink diet soda? I did a search for this on the site and didn't see anyone talk about it specifically. I can see why regular soda would hurt, but diet? My paper said that it acts the same as the sugary soda. Bottom line is, I'm not giving up diet soda or coffee. I'll just brush and rinse after I have it. I guess I'll keep bottled water handy where ever I am. I may have to whiten the heck out of my teeth when I'm done in a couple of years.
Katt, it's good to hear someone else feels the same about the colors and not caring. I started to go with veneers and avoid all of this, but after researching it for a long time...no thanks. The horror stories talked me out of it.
It has to do with the Aspartame that's in it. It can be just as harmful to your teeth as sugar. My Orhto said the same thing about the diet mainly though because of the staining. But by all means don't give up what you love just be a little more careful.
Is the dentist recommending to stay away from diet soda for the same reason they always say to stay away from sugar, candy and soda? I don't see how drinking soda would be any worse for your teeth braces or no braces. Anyway, if there are some adverse reactions on your braces from aspartame then that would be good to know but I doubt it.
Katt, I would post my story, but I didn't get the pictures from the Dr. Was I supposed to ask for them? I tried to take some myself before I was braced, but they didn't turn out well. It's too close to focus properly. If I can get them from him on a flash disk or something, I'll post.
I didn't ask for mine. But I know some people have. I took all my own pictures (I had to take many before I got one that was in focus) But I have LOTS of before pictures to compare with as time goes by.
