I am getting braced in 6 days and very worried about my grinding/clenching at night.

I heard about this Sleep RIght night guard you can wear with braces, has anyone heard or used this ?

Here is the website.....

I clench and grind with my braces, so just let your orthodontist know in advance. I was grinding so much at night when I first got my braces that I would bite through my rubber bands! They had to change them to a thicker and wider rubber band because I literally could not sleep with them in or I would pop them multiple times a night.

I know they can put these little bite thingies in to keep you from biting your brackets off, but otherwise... I don't know. I clench and grind and I have TMD, but the braces have messed up my bite so much at this point that most of my teeth don't even hit

I used to clench and grind before braces, and I wore a splint for a while, but since I got my braces I stopped grinding, not sure exactly why but my ortho said that this is something that happens often! I hope you'll experience the same! I didn't knew about this guard, I just used to wear a regular, custom-made splint

Did you wear the splint while you had braces? Someone at work told me this could be done? I am so confused!!! Help !!

I've looked at these and I believe that they say they are not to be used with orthodontics, although I'm not sure why. I'm going to ask my doctor about them at my first adjustment on March 10, because I think I really need something like this. I have molar build ups and a bite turbo, but I still clench like crazy at night and I seem to suck all the moisture out of my mouth in the process. I wake up with cuts on my inner cheeks.

Hmmm. thanks for posting the part about braces. I'm pretty sure that on the box it said otherwise -- or I could be mistaking it for another brand.

This part

"Many adults seem to prefer the standard model, because of the higher profile wings on the sides, which help to protect the cheeks from the irritation of the arch wires and brackets, especially while sleeping."

is exactly why I was looking at one to purchase.

To answer your other question, molar build ups are the addition of a hard material to the back molars which builds them up so that the 2 back molars touch but in turn prevent the teeth forward of that point from touching. The bite turbo is a little metal "shelf" that is attached to the inside back of one or both front teeth, so that when you close your mouth the shelf stops you from closing any further.

In my case both were done so that I wouldn't bump my bottom brackets with my top teeth.
