WOW! Your teeth are beautiful!!! They are big (mine are rather medium to tiny in spots...) - your smile will be even more beautiful when they are off :D

Welcome to the metal-mouthed-world and remember, our teeth are too wiggling to bite hard... so we just make sparks

Awww thank you purpleteeth. By the way did u notice my purple ligs  I still have those little red dots they put on when braces are first applied but they are fading.
So, will I eventually be able to bite down? All I was able to eat was mashed potatoe (it started out as "baked" but i mashed it  ) and lemon merigue pie. But had to swallow whole, couldn't chew AT ALL!
Oh.........and I have tons of saliva  but, inside of my lips feel dry
I get my lovely tongue thrusting spikes at my first adjustment. ouch!!

Wow I love the purple ligs - they look really nice!

And the brackets themselves look small - I am concerned about how bulky mine will be because i have a small mouth.

How are you dealing with talking and eating?

What kind of brackets are those (as in company brand?)

Congrats!

You have a great smile! In a week or two you will feel more comfortable to start eating "normal" again.
Take it easy for the first couple of days but try to start chewing a bit more so your teeth get used to and won't hurt as much anymore.

Good luck and welcome! :)

Congratulations!!! They look great! You are going to have a beautiful smile when the braces are off - your teeth are a lovely size and very white.

Don't worry about eating...think of your weight loss for this first week or so...pretty soon you'll be back to chowing down again (I, for example, just ate pizza!)

Congratulations on your braces :)

Your bite will shift around quite a bit and you'll find some days you can bite down on one side of your mouth and some days on the other (and some days, your teeth won't line up at all...or so it feels!)

One cause of dry lips is that you are breathing more through your mouth than your nose now. The braces make it harder for your mouth to close so you breath through your mouth more. Use lip balm regularly. It will get better as your mouth adjusts.
