Determining what kind of brackets........

#1 Post by dirtybyrd »

When I got braced last Monday I totally forgot to ask what kind of braces I have. Don't have the digital camera with me or I would post a pic. Mine have little almost jewel looking things in the front of them. Turquoise in the brackets on the upper left and red in the upper right. They said it is a pretty new bracketing system but I don't know what I have. Does this sound familiar to anybody?? Don't know how all braces are but my wires snap into the front of the brackets. Maybe thats all of them I don't know.

It sounds like you probably have self-ligating brackets since the wire snaps in to the bracket instead of using ligatures(little elastic type things). As for the turquiose and red, are they just little dots? If so, they're just reference colours so the ortho knows which tooth to place which bracket on. They will wear away in days or weeks with brushing. Unless you can post a pic, it's too hard to tell what brand of brackets you have.
Keep smilin'! :)

Thank you for replying. I was kicking myself for not asking.

Do they look anything like mine?
The pics are in my story which is linked in my signature.

If so then the brand is GAC In-Ovation :D They're one of the newer self-ligating bracket systems out.
Clickies on the "WWW" to see my braces story :)

No unfortunately they don't. I am just going to wait until my first adjustment on May 12th and ask then.
