SturdyFloss, Oral B Superfloss

#1 Post by dirtybyrd »

My ortho gave me like 4 bags of this SuperFloss stuff. The cushiony section for the appliances is fine but for some reason the thin floss doesn't go in and out of my teeth well at all. I like having the stiff end to help lead through the wire but the actual floss in my opinion sucks. Does Crest or someone else make this stuff?? The reason I ask if Crest does is because I use their Crest Glide floss and really like it. How about Sturdyfloss?

I totally agree with you, I just hate that Superfloss. The stiff end is useful, the I don't like the rest of it. As you, I find the floss too thick. It also shreds and gets stuck etc.

Crest does make an awesome product called Glide Flosser Thread. If you like the regular Glide floss, you'd love this product. It has a stiff end, but not spongy middle. I really like it, but it's pricey.

Another product that is more in between is Sturdy Floss on the Dentakit web site. I liked it too, but not as much as the Glide.

Another option if you want to continue using regular glide is to use a floss threader and loop a little knot to hold your floss onto it. Thanks to a tip from another posted, this is what I have been doing and it works like a charm.

i read good reviews on the superfloss, went out and bought it, used it the first nite i got braced and i hate superfloss
i dont think the sturdy end was useful to be as it went up under my lips, like u all said the regular part of the floss was near impossible to use
the spongy part worked ok
but i have gone back to using regular oral b satin floss
without floss threader and i have no problems at all

I hate superfloss, it shreds terribly. I was using regular glide until I went for a cleaning 6 weeks ago and my hygienist was using the glide threader floss and she gave me a couple of samples and I was hooked!

OMG you were dead on right. The Crest Glide threader floss is hands down the best in my opinion. I truly enjoy flossing even with my braces on now. Cuts my flossing time down dramatically too compared to when I was using the Oral B Superfloss. :D

I love the Superfloss. I don't find it to shred often, maybe when I get it caught in a back molar bracket, but nothing where other flossses don't get caught as welll.

This stuff is my miracle drug!!! I absolutely adore it!!! My ortho gave me the threaders and stuff, but that became too much of a hastle so I started looking for alternatives and found the Oral B Super Floss --- it is the greatest invention in the world, in my opinion.

The pointed end goes straight up and then the spongie thingie helps me get between the teeth "softly" and lots of gunky stuff comes out on it. I use 2 each time I floss, one for tops and one for bottoms.

This stuff doesnt shread nearly as easily and I don't drool as much when flossing. I also find it faster because I don't have to rethread the "threader" each time I go between my teeth.

I like the Superfloss, too.
Since reading the other posts, I've looked for the Crest stuff(I think mary. said something about it in her post)but I can't find it here in Canada. Oh well, I guess I'll just stick with my Superfloss. :D
Keep smilin'! :)

I love my SuperFloss too. I poke the threader end upwards on my lower jaw and downwards on my upper jaw so I don't have to fish it out of my lips. It does absorb a lot of saliva but I've learnt to keep my mouth dry. Likewise, it does shred when caught on a bracket then yanked so I've learnt to not get it caught, or disengage it without yanking.

The spongy part is great for places with larger gaps where the food stuck there gets passed over by thinner floss.

I have two pieces of it curled up (same way you curl up lengths of wire or cable) and stuck in my Brace Relief Pocket Kit in case I need them on the go.

I use crest clide floss. But soemtimes if i feel thgat my gums are inflamed I put some mouth wash on the soft part of the superfloss and floss the infected area. It really heels the gums fast.

I was recommended to use crest superfloss, but i have never got on with it. All i do is, use my normal satin floss and kinda poke around till its under my bracket, or use a floss threader and that works for me fine.
