QUAD HELIX QUESTIONS!

#1 Post by RydellPinkLady »

Hi everyone!

I'm getting my quad helix on Tuesday and i'm really nervous on how this is going to effect me. I've been wearing spacers for almost two weeks now and I dont know that the pain from the helix will be ANYTHING like the pain that was felt the first 2 days of having the spacers in, so I was wondering if anyone w/ experience could offer some advice?

Also, I am 23 and have a cross bite and an underbite and the ortho said surgery would be ideal but since thats costly and risky (and I dont want it!), they could mask it by using the quad helix and then braces. From what I've read online, the quad helix seems more common for kids and teens since by my age, the jaw bones have stopped growing. Do any adults have lasting results from a quad helix? I'm afraid of spending tons of money like I am only to have my jaw shift back to its original state a few years down the road.

Please help!
Thank you!!

Hi, you can read about my Quad helix installation and experience in my WWW (memory is fuzzy now, I HATED it when I got it in and wanted to die, but now I never notice it is there!)

I am 29 years old and while my results are not dramatic, they didn't need to be and I have gotten the results my ortho wanted and he is very pleased with the progress, and it is certainly enough for me to notice :)

Thanks for the post. I'm nervous as all hell right now since my appt. is in just a few hours. I'm glad to hear your progress went as expected.

Where can I read about your experience?

Hi there;

Thanks for your post! I felt better after reading it! I had a nightmare lastnight about the ortho. coming out w/ my quad helix and in my dream, it was this big huge appliance...I woke up having a panic attack LOL I'm such a chicken. I can't wait to get these spacers out, I've had them in over 2 weeks now and can't eat anything w/ them :(

If you dont mind me asking, how old are you? From what I've read, using a quad helix sounds more like something for younger kids. I'm 23 and apprehensive. How is it working for you?
