When going for your first adjustment.......

#1 Post by dirtybyrd »

What can I expect? Is it common to get a new wire? How are adjustments done? How often would I get a new wire? When I go I will find out what kind of braces I have. Unless I can steal the digital camera from my wife for a few minutes and post pics online for you guys to see. Whatever I have the wire snaps into the braces. Help this newb understand what to expect on my first adjustment. :D

hi

at my first adjustment I had a new wire , but had had a molar band added so needed a longer one  . I think that often all that is done is that new ligs are put on ... which I find uncomfortable on some teeth ..... till a stronger / different action wire required.

I find the pressure kicks in the day after and is variable at times between adjustments.

I have not needed to take any analgesia so far ....... but am only 7 1/2 weeks in

I suppose what happens will vary according to what is needed for your teeth ..... some folk need elastics or powerchains , some folk like yourself dont have ligs ( if the brackets self closing ?????)

After the first adjustment

After the first adjustment it was a little uncomfortable, as the ortho added a power chain to the top teeth. There was some tightening going on, but it was nothing that a couple of ibuprofen couldn't handle.

I look forward to the adjustments. Every adjustment means I'm that much closer to the final result!
