I got my first powerchain today --- I am so excited I wasn't supposed to get them and I got one on bottom. I have Damon's and now I have a pretty purple powerchain on bottom. I got it at my SOS appointment today for my biting brackets issue
I have never had one on all my teeth before, only one between two teeth for a short period of time. Any tips on how to keep this baby clean? I imagine more food will stuck, but anything else??
Yay for powerchains!!!

powerchains
purpleteeth: I wish my attitude about my new power chains was as positive as yours. I got mine on - across 6 upper front teeth - on 6/6. They are black. I was told black was the color that worked best. I didn't quite follow why the color would matter.
At least with black there's no stain issue. It hurt like hell when she put them on. I thought she was pulling the teeth right out of my mouth. I didn't chew (again) for 4 days.
I'm getting used to them now. Next appt is 7/15 and I hope that 5 weeks of the powerchains is enough!

I never had any problems with the chains. When I had them, it was all the way around. It didn't hurt when they put them on either. I guess the people I went to had a very sensitive touch to them, all of them. I think that it just depends on how hard they pull on it to wrap it on the bracket. Some pull harder than others. That's just my opinion though. So yeh.

It hurt a little going on, but 8hrs later... I am actually quite comfortable. I am not really bothered much by the braces anymore and enjoy some of the things they do, especially if I get COLORS!!! Hehe... I don't like how the stuff tastes, but other than that - not extremely bothered by most procedures anymore.
The only problem I am now having is that my back elastics, they call them "elastics on my 6's" won't stay on (the hooks are built into my brackets). They tie onto the molars where the powerchains are attached on bottom. I did not put them on before I left the office, put them on in the car and had no trouble. When I got home, I ate breakfast and had trouble putting them back on --- they don't want to stay. I managed to keep them on long enough to fall asleep (I sleep during the day and work at nights), but woke up mid afternoon to my elastics off and floating in my mouth. I called the office and they are not sure why I can't keep them on, but told me to come back TOMORROW!
Anyone else had trouble with elastics and powerchains?

I've been wearing lower powerchains 6-6 for the last two months. I got the first one in April(silver) and it was changed in May(grey). Believe me they are still working. As far as cleaning goes, my sonicare toothbrush and my proxybrushes are my best friends!

Re: powerchains
That is an interesting concept then... they never mentioned anything and I was overly excited and asked for purple --- so purple it was. They never seemed to object, rather just smiled and told me I could have purple if I wanted to!Meryaten wrote:The dyes do seem to impact the elastic properties of the chains (which isn't really a big surprise) and which colour works best may well vary from one manufacturer to another. But my ortho's office also observed that among the chains they use, black seem the best.bbandef wrote:purpleteeth: I wish my attitude about my new power chains was as positive as yours. Hopefully these will do the trick for you.
I had a clear powerchain back between 2 teeth a few months back and wasn't given an option of colors. It did something to the teeth and then was removed rather promptly, at an SOS appointment I think.
