clipping skin between front teeth

#1 Post by fldhkybnva »

Because part of my treatment will be to close the gap between my two front teeth, the orthodontist told me that I will need my dentist to clip the skin between these teeth. has anyone had this done and what was the experience like?

I had this done when I was a kid. I don't remember how old - maybe 10? Anyway, it was a piece of cake. Healed quickly and the gap between my teeth closed quickly as well.

i had this done when i was a kid, and my ortho is doing it again (it heals after a long while i guess!) in a month when my braces are removed. if this is intact, it gives some unnecessary force and may pull your teeth back to where they were, OR may not allow for them to be moved into position as necessary.

don't worry - this didn't hurt at all when I was little, and i'm not worried about it at all now. my ortho didn't even make a big deal of this, I remember it as a small pinch. it did bleed a bit but didn't hurt. I almost forgot I was having this done until I saw this post, thanks : )

I've been wanting to ask about this too. However, my problem is with the gum between the front teeth & the canines. As my bite has retracted, this gum area is becoming more & more, well, bulbous, I guess you could say. The ortho assistant said it would just go away, but it seems to just get bigger. Is a similar procedure done for situation?
