Oh! Tomorrow is the 'big day' [UPPERS ON, PICS ADDED!!]

Well the time is almost here! Now that I've had my extractions and have huge gaps all over the place, I'm now more ready than I ever was to actually get started.

I'll be getting upper ceramics tomorrow and lower metals will go on some time in the future.

Pretty apprehensive about this, not because I'm expecting pain or discomfort, but just waiting to see how my mouth is going to feel for the next two years or so. Not to mention how it looks or how I can eat.

Still, I've already past the point of no return, so I'm in this for the long haul

Hi Memran,

Good luck tomorrow!!! I've had my braces for 5.5 months and I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

As far as how it feels, defintely take an OTC pain reliever before your appointment and take as needed, stay hydrated, keep soft foods availiable (don't starve yourself), and use WAX!

Keep us posted!

Well its official, I'm a braceface!

The experience wasn't entirely unpleasant really, and I was surprised to see not one, but TWO other adults there too.

Now all I have to do is wait for the pain lol :)

Congratulations Merman!

I found that my first day with braces wasn't too bad. The pain set in on the second day. I used a lot of wax and advil during the first week. I'm two weeks in now and am fine. I don't feel like I have a mouth full of marbles anymore and am eating almost anything (within reason)!

Good luck!

Some large canyons to fill in!

Not sure if you can tell from this, but the two teeth next to the extraction site have little concave bits from where the tooth was.

Hmm.. sorry I should have shaved first

Looking good! You'll be amazed by the improvement a few months in, and I bet they'll look fantastic when you're done!

Thanks guys :D

I'm pretty surprised that there's very little pain so far. I've been eating normally, and only my front teeth ache a little. I thought it was going to be hell! Maybe that will come in the next few days...

One thing thats anoying me now though, is the time it takes to clean my teeth - and I only have top brace!

I'll get used to it ... eventually :)
