Hey, I have a question for you nice folk:
Did you ever get the feeling that a nerve in your tooth was exposed after a major tooth adjustment or a major move in your teeth was happening?

At my last adjustment, I had my last crooked tooth set to be pulled into alignment with the rest of my teeth. It was uncomfortable the first couple of days, as expected. But since yesterday, I can't drink liquid without a painful shock to the tooth. It's getting annoying.

Could it be possible the nerve is moving so much, it's become exposed?
Do you think this will go away.

I really don't want to hear the words "root canal". But I don't want to feel electrified when I drink either.

When I initially got my uppers, they didn't engage the brackets on the molars in the very back. On my first adjustment (in May), they included them and I noticed the same issue. I had a cleaning shortly after the adjustment, and those molars hurt like crazy when the hygienist cleaned them. She told me I'd lost enamel and gave me a fluoride gel to use. However, the sensitivity didn't start until after the adjustment, so I'm wondering if she was wrong and it's just part of the shifting process.

Most of the sensitivity is gone, now, although there are moments when it flares up.

It sounds like routine sensitivity. I have had a lot of problems with this throughout my treatment so far and nothing really has been done to fix it completely. I use Sensodyne toothpaste, fluoride gel, fluoride rinse, and even get special treatments by the hygenist every 3 months... limited results.
