Why can't my bracket just be moved down? Bite plate?

#1 Post by nomorecrowd »

So I got my new braces about 2 weeks ago. Everything was perfect until 2 brackets on my lower back molars popped off. I got them placed back on today and now my upper tooth hits the bracket. I told her about it she added some glue type thing to the bottom of another tooth.... it still bothered me so I called and she will add a bite plate tomorrow.

My question is, why can't the bracket just be moved lower the way it was when it did not bother me. I hate my tooth hitting metal and it was perfect before.

Well, I really don't know much about what you are asking, but I can say that it depends on your tooth. If it is a rather small tooth, they can't place the bracket but so far down. If they place it too far down, it can irrate if not damage your gum line.
I had a tooth on the upper right back which was really small, well they had the bracket placed in the correct spot, but being that the tooth was so small it made it more vulnerable to popping off, which happened.
If I were you I would actually ask questions, it's your teeth, your money ask them about what they are doing. Most of the time they wont get mad, they will just be like just another person fascinated with the procedure! Sorry I couldn't help better, but Merytan may be able to help way more than I ever could. Find her and ask! :D

Well my issue is that when the brackets were placed the first time I didnt have this issue of my tooth hitting the bracket. It was only after they popped off and were put on again.
