2 months in!!!22 months to go!!

#1 Post by KittyKat99 »

Hello everyone,

I got my clear braces on the top 2 months ago and metal ones on the bottom 1 month ago. Im 23 and waited bou 4 years before i actually took the plunge!!No im wishing i had of just got them in sooner coz they ould be finished by now. I dont think my teeth are staining that bad but for some reason my front 2 teeth are yellow and the rest are ok. Just underneath the brackets. Not sure wat to do???Ive tired everything. Those teeth whitening stuff doesnt work at all.

Apart from that i dont mind wearing the braces. Ive already noticed a big difference in the top teeth. Bottom dont seem to have moved at all yet though.

I have to admit ive had the top on for 2 months and it feels like a year. The 2 months went by pretty quick but i cant seem to be able to bite into food like Pizza, Burgers anything like that. I still have to cut up food before i eat it.

Is this normal or should i go back to the ortho??

It really hurts when i try to bite into stuff. Not sure wat to do. I never kno wat to get for lunch at work, dont mind eating dinner and that but when im out its a nightmare. I really just want to be able to bite into food again. I just made myself a toasted sandwich and i cudnt bite into it.

Any advice???Is there something wrong with my teeth r something. Im just frustrated at this point.

Thanks

Don't worry about not being able to bite into anything. Hopefully your experience will be different, but I'm on month 8 and I still can't bite into anything without at least one front tooth hurting. I've just given up altogether and automatically default to knife and fork. Today I cut up a toasted PBJ into 16 little bite size pieces without even thinking twice about how absurd that might seem. Even when eating out I automatically cut everything up, even if it's not something that one would normally cut up (like a sandwich.) The plus side to this is that since I'm not biting into anything I usually don't need to worry about food stuck in my top front brackets.

Alright thanks.

It always seems to be a random tooth that hurts when i eat but always either 1 or both of the front two teeth!!The ones i really need to bite into something. I suppose il be eating everything with a knife and fork!!!Seems wierd when im eating a sandwich r burger but for straight teeth il do it!!

I suppose i just have 2 get use to eating and somw pain. Hard though!!!

How long do u have to wear yours for??I wish i was you and had them in for 8 months already!!! 8) I dont mind the look of them r anything. Although at first i thought i wud but now its just eating thats pissing me off.

I hav an adjustment on the 8th of August and i know they will hurt again after that. I just thought that they would hurt for a while and then id be able to bite into things but not too sure now!!

I was told 24-30 months, but my teeth seem to be moving really fast, so I'm hoping for early release---(yeah right!) As for the front teeth hurting, I know many people on the site seem to bite into things just fine, and pretty quickly after being braced, so maybe I'm just unlucky. I can handle chewing on molars that hurt, but I don't know.....it's just something about the front teeth hurting that makes me baby them. Not only do they hurt but they are also loose feeling, and biting into something with them feeling that way just freaks me out. I know that I shouldn't baby them, but oh well.....

Maybe I should consult my ortho... I've had my braces in for almost 3 weeks and my diet hasn't changed AT ALL! The first 2 days it was hard for me to bite down into anything (made toasted bread for breakfast, was a pain). But ever since, I've been able to eat anything. My friends have said they forgot I have braces on, because nothing's changed. Pizza, bread, pasta, chicken wings,.... is this cause for alarm or am I lucky?

No cause for alarm. Like I said, most people eat normally right away. Others don't. Everyone's teeth are different and everyone experiences tenderness/pain/"looseness" differently. (Lucky I don't find eating everything with knife and fork as inconvenient as some might.)

Oh and what you mentioned about the two front teeth looking yellow below the brackets, it could just be a shadow being cast by your brackets. Or, I dont know if you do this already, but tilting the toothbrush up so the bristles are pointed at a diagonal toward the gum and brushing under the brackets may help to target that area.

Hey,

Yeh i know wat u mean. I think because they where sore and felt a bit loose i didnt really apply much pressure with my toothbrush to that area. But i got them white now.

I started getting worried about not being able to eat proper because anyone i asked who have had braces or have them at the moment has told me they can eat anything except apples!!!

I have 2 go back on the 8th of August for an adjustment so il see wat the ortho says to me. My front two teeth have moved. I hav a gap in the middle which i didnt have before!!!Im sure he knows wat he's doing though.

Really dont want to have to be eating wit a knife and fork for the nxt 22 months!!!
