19 more days

#1 Post by JesseJames »

19 more days and im free!
Anyone who has followed my story would know i started out enthusiastically, but at the 1 year mark i get extremely sick of them and have been complaining since :P
Well, i have 19 days left and theyre off! i was ready to have them taken out in June and just live with the gaps, but the ortho asked me to wait until the end of August and he promised they'd be off no matter what.
I may still end up with the slightest (half a milimeter) gap on the right side behind my canine, but thats ok. Ive been in the tightest powerchain and elastics now for 7 weeks, less then 3 to go! They really closed the gaps up fast since they started. I'd say around 3mm on each side.
Im just very excited and happy so i had to share! The next 19 days will go by so slowly! (ive been counting down since 35 lol) but im soon to be free :)

Congratulations, JesseJames!!!
As I remember, you have posted before saying that you still have gap left, but not room for the uppers to go back any more. How did your ortho solved that problem? Do you know if the gap closed up by moving the top back teeth forward?

Thank you!
They are literally using every last mm of space in my mouth to move my teeth back. The one assistant didnt think there was any room left 3 months ago, but he said there was and he was able to move the front teeth back a few mm's more. The left side is fully closed, the right side will have the slightest gap. I dont know how he found the room but he did lol

Interesting! by the way, did they do anything to your lowers to bring them back more? and are your lower front teeth touching the upper fronts? do you feel pressure with that contact?

They havent done a thing to my lowers for about 6 months. Same wire, just different ligs at each adjustment. My lowers were pretty good to start, they just needed to be more "arched" shaped.
And yes, i can feel the tops and bottoms very slightly when i bite down. Its a very tight but good feeling.... lol i dont know why it just seems like everything fits in perfectly

Sorry to ask so many questions, but your treatment was really similar to mine, so I would like to know more detail about yours.

Did you mean 3mm on each side with the powerchain and elastics for mere 7 weeks? And do you mind to specify what kind of elastics you were using?

thanks a lot!!!

i dont mind answering!
yeah, the past 2 months the gaps have closed at an insane rate. The reason i was so upset for awhile was because they werent moving at all. now theyre almost closed!
I have 3/16" Heavy elastics. They said theyre the strongest ones they have plus the tightest powerchain too

Im not sure what the name would be, but they hook onto my canines and then go around a hook on the back of my bottom brackets. Nothing to elaborate but it gets the job done :)
