annoying molar bands?

#1 Post by jackjack »

so ive basically had my top braces for about 3 weeks, getting top this wednesday...have all 4 if my first molars banded...my biggest complaint with the braces are these molar bands...it seems like they touch too much...

on my left side not so much, so thats the side i eat on more but as for my right side my top molar hits the lower molar band's buccal tube. its very annoying when im eating and worried if my molars will become damaged because of this excessive contact of the bands???? am i wrong? please let me know if anyone else has had or has this problem...i dunno i just hate these bands so much!!!! not even my extractions bothered me as much as these things!!!

First of all, congrats on your new braces!

If it were me, I would call the ortho to see if it's okay for them to be touching like that. I'm sure they'd be happy to take your call and help out.

I had a problem with my braces touching a number of months ago. So, they added a bit of glue to the bottom of two of my molars on each side to stop the braces from touching. It was a little awkward at first, but I got used to them before long.

See, this can happen when your teeth hang over each other, so maybe it will change when they move. The thing I would advise you of is to ask your ortho, because he/she/they, are going to be the ones who can actually answer this question effectively so do that. This is the best advise I can give you. I'm sorry I couldn't help you better.
