Elastic Timeline for 18 months

#1 Post by uncdl »

I am having my back molar bands put on and "getting" elastics at my 6 month braces anniversary. My original estimated time of wearing braces was 18 months.

Does this seem behind schedule? It seems like it took forever to get to the elastics stage which is to fix my bite (the whole reason I got braces) and I was wondering what other brace wearers though.

What kind of bite problem do you have? It depends on how bad it is and what your othos plan is.
I have a unilateral posterior crossbite, the quadrant on the right are all in a really bad crossbite, the left wasn't so bad. I have been wearing elastics since day one (5 months ago)

The left side is already fixed and the right side is moving slowly but moving.

If you aren't sure, ask your ortho what his plan is and how the progress is going, how much time you have left, etc, etc.

Hope that helps and good luck with your treatment :)

I agree I think it all depends on what your Ortho is trying to accomplish.

I have been in braces for 17 months and am just getting elastics this week. The plan is to have them for 6 months to fix my bite and then be done. So each situation is unique.
