What are you paying for a filling without insurance?

#1 Post by Kat »

Thought I'd ask here if you don't mind please. I think $223.00 per filling is way to much, small or larger that's what they are hitting me up for.

Something tells me this is way high...?

WOW!
I have heard that sometimes some dentists charge more for front teeth but that's hard to swallow!

Guess this is the business to be in.

Also with insurance the charge is different. For example with insurance the total cost for one of my fillings was around $150. Without insurance it was around $200. Like Meryaten said, it depends on the type of filling, the size and also which tooth...

I have no dental insurance as well. I go to a wonderful but expensive dentist who only does composite fillings. With that said, I think a 3 surface is something like 350-375, a two surface is 250-275 and one surface 150-175. Ish....

It was between $200-300 for the composite fillings my kids had almost three years ago. We opted to extract several baby teeth since it was much cheaper :(

The extractions left plenty of room for their expanders to go in without needing spacers though....

I'm just now doing some flexible spending account paperwork for my last filling before braces. I live in northern Massachusetts, about 20 miles outside Boston. The filling was a three-surface composite resin on my upper right lateral incisor and was $243.

To me it's worth every penny because my dentist is an artist. She matches the color perfectly, smooths out every spot, and works so gently that I don't feel any pain or sensitivity in the tooth afterwards.

This is how I look at it: you've got to live with these fillings a long time, so for the comfort and the appearance, you may have to pay a bit more.

I hope you don't have too many fillings to take care of before braces (I had too many to count). Good luck!
