Clear braces better than Invisalign??

Hey everyone what’s up? I’ve been reading some member reviews of their experiences with Invisalign and there seems to be a common element in their posts.

The majority of the reviews I read involved people who used Invisalign for whatever required period of time only to be forced into having braces put on in order to achieve their desired look.

So this is what I would like to know:

1) From your experience and the experience of others you know, what are the benefits of having braces over Invisalign and vice versa?

2) Do any of your have clear braces? And if so, do you know if it’s possible to get some where they are white all around, even the wiring? The ICE brand seems pretty cool.

The way I see it, if Invisalign is so great…then why would you still need braces afterwards? Yes, I understand there are many different cases but I would much rather just prefer to go the braces route if there’s even a possibility of having them applied later on.

I don’t have really bad teeth at all. Just some minor gapping and the teeth on my right side seem to be a little bit higher up than the ones on my left side. I chew mostly on the right side of my face so I’m guessing this has something to do with it.

Anyway, I would like to know what you all have to say about this. I made sure to do a forum search before posting this but I wasn’t able to find the information I need.

Thanks!

I agree invisalign does have mixed reivews.

I have a cosmetic (white) wire. For the first time this adjustment. So far I have been pleased. For appearance look at Martyn Boyce (under our brace stories). I was worried about chipping, but Martyn tells me this has not been a problem for him. Three weeks in it's fine. That said, earlier brands of cosmetic wires did chip, and also weren't that effective at moving teeth. However now in the UK they have some better ones (according to my ortho) and he is happy to use them, they only have them for popular sizes so far though, so I may end up back in regular one at some point.

For me linguals (IBraces / Incognito on top) have offered a good, but pricey, cosmetic solution, whilst allowing my ortho the control of regular fixed braces. I have ceramic on the bottom.

I have to say in looking at different orthos they were very different in terms of how far they were prepared to ensure my teeth looked good whilst moving as well as when finished. Very happy with current one though, well worth looking arround.
