Question for all you Damon Wearers.!

#1 Post by Megan11 »

Okay, I know a lot of you one here wear Damon/Damon 3's and I was wondering if you all also had your appointments 8 weeks apart. Ugh it seems so far away, and I am extremely inpatient when it comes to this. I got fully braced the second of september and they told me not to come back untill November 10th, and I was like , umm that seems like forever away! So they were like , "Fine, November 3rd, but we probably are going to stick with the 8 weeks from now on."

I know that the Damons are self-ligatating(sp?), but it just seems far apart, I would prefer the the normal 4-6 weeks.

What do you all think?

I have Damon's too and my appts. are usually about 8 weeks apart. My next adj. is 9 weeks from my last  . It does bother me only because I have questions or concerns that I want to address and the wait is hard...or I forget when I finally get to my appt  ! The one good thing is not having to worry every 3-4 weeks having an appt. and rearranging my schedule.

So, I completely understand where you're coming from but there's always pros and cons to everything...including what kind of braces we have!
Keep smilin'! :)

Well.....not sure if this is a consolation or not, but I don't have self-ligating brackets and my appointments so far have always been 8 weeks apart. Apparently this is standard procedure for my ortho.

I have been wearing the Damon's for almost a year and a half and for the first year my appointments were 6-8 weeks apart but since then they went down to 4 weeks apart as I am nearing the end of my treatment.

I too pushed to go back sooner when I first got mine on and what happened was I went in and then looked at my teeth, said they needed to move more before they could change the wire and sent me on my way. It was disppointing to leave with the same wires. Personally, I found it easier (after that) to wait out the 8 weeks and then have the wire changed. It felt like progress that way.

Don't worry the time will pass by quickly. It doesn't seem like it in the beginning but it does pass quickly.

Good luck.

I have Damon braces. When I had them put on (July 7th of this year) they told me to come back in 10-12 weeks for my first adjustment. My ortho was away at that time so I had my 1st adjustment at 9 weeks. The assistant told me that the wires remain active for 12 weeks. I saw movement in my teeth the entire 9 weeks. Going in sooner does not mean your teeth will move faster. Just relax - you'll get there. :D

Now my appointments are 8 weeks apart and I'm told that as I near the end of treatment they will be around 4 weeks apart.

I waited 10-12 weeks between adjustments early on. Towards the end they got closer together.

I have all metal Damon's, top and bottom. My appointments range in spacing, but I'd say 7 weeks is average for me. But I had the same archwire on my top teeth for 9 months! It's just part of my ortho's plan for me. I really trust him, and I'm seeing progress, so I believe he knows what he's doing.

I got braced on September 2nd too and my next appointment is October 9th, which is 5 weeks.

That's an interesting fact to know.

My first appointment after I initially got braces was six weeks, and the next two appointments will be seven weeks apart. I'm not sure what its going to be like after that. Eight weeks sounds pretty normal, and it beats going to the orthodonist every single month as some have to, in my opinion :D

I also have Damons half clear on top and bottom. Tops on August 11th bottoms on September 10th. My first adjustment will be in 6 weeks. So you shouldn't worry. I already feel at one with my braces..lol. There fun and I am 31. Just enjoy it. You only get them once....or twice maybe.

I was the first patient at my ortho to receive the Damon 4's just a couple weeks ago. This is because I had some brackets re-positioned. I'm not sure what the difference is between 3 and 4; something about the little doors. Anyway, my appointments have ranged from 4-12 weeks apart; it just depends on what phase of treatment you're in. Howver, now I notice my appointments are closer together as he works on getting the fine-tuning done.

As for impatience, it does get old, but now looking back at the treatment process, it doesn't seem that bad. All a matter of perspective, I guess!
