wisdom teeth

For adults with braces is not normal to leave the wisdom teeth in if they have already come through?
Anyone had braces and still got wisdom teeth?

I still have my wisdom top molars. I did have 2 top premolars taken out so I had enough space to align my teeth. My ortho did say "take out the top wisdom" the reason.... It's just always recommended! Not a good enough reason for me to do it. The bottoms however were a different story . I had cavity on bottom wisdom and for some reason when I would bite down it would cause an open bite on the sides so I had those taken out and now my bite is closed.I'm still in braces and I'm getting them off next month ,so I think it depends but you can be in braces with your wisdom teeth.

My husband has all 4 wisdom teeth.Never had braces and never asked by a dentist that he should have them taken out. When I asked our dentist , she said "If the teeth look pretty straight,there really is never a request that wisdom teeth should be taken out. It seems to me that the majority of dentist say " Wisdom teeth OUT"

I still have all of my wisdom teeth. All 32 adult teeth actually. Mine all came in nice and upright and there is still room behind them.

I asked at my consultation if I would need any extractions and my ortho told me no.

I still have 2 of mine (upper and lower right side). My ortho said they can stay without causing any harm to my alignment or bite.

I had the other 2 removed due to an infection in the surounding tissue. If that happens to either one of these, they're both coming out.

I have all 4 of mine. My orthodontist said I had enough space to work with (as I'd had 4 premolars taken out as a child for my orthodontic treatment then).

I've still got a lower and upper, both fully erupted and straight. The lower was on the wire, the upper wasn't. The second lower was pulled 6 months in so that my ortho could close my bite. The other upper has been sitting high up in my jaw somewhere for decades, not causing any trouble.

I had my wisdom teeth with braces. I have been in braces since Aug 2006 and this past February I had my wisdom teeth removed. My Dentist/Ortho said as long as I was in braces we (meaning she) would have control over how my wisdom teeth effected my overall bite, but the wisdom teeth would need to be removed before my braces to make sure they didn't create a problem post-braces.

I still have 3 wisdom teeth. One went out for cavity long time ago, the other three are still in.

I would never remove my wisdom teeth without a good reason. As it looks, I'll have to remove one because it hampers a good bite. It is out of line and way too high, therefore touching the other arch way too early and preventing the bite to close properly. Since there are no braces attached to it, my ortho can't do much about it. HE tried to wrok around it, but it dowsn't look too good. It will likely go out soon, I'll hear in my next adjustment... but we tried to save it, and without this specific issue, it would definitely stay.

Modern medicine can be stupid at times.

I've got all 4 of mine

....and I'm currently in Invisalign, with no plans for any extractions. They are perfectly healthy back teeth, that I use to chew my food.

I did however have 4 molars taken out when I was a teenager. There was no way all my adult teeth were going to fit in my mouth!

I, too, have braces and all 4 wisdom teeth.
There's plenty of room back there and they're healthy, so there's no need to extract them.
Sometimes, I think dental professions would rather people get their molars extracted because it makes things easier on them, (my dental hygienist always mentions how hard it is to clean them) or because it's "expected". Anyway, as long as mine are healthy, I'm keeping them.

Having said that, my wisdom teeth aren't actually braced, just all of my teeth between them (2 through 15 on top and 18 through 31 on bottom).
I don't think orthos usually brace wisdom teeth.
