Turbos?

#1 Post by megs29 »

This tuesday Im getting my bottom braces put on... 4 months after I originally had my top ones placed, with a BSSO planned for march-ish.

My ortho had mentioned they were putting turbos on my top front teeth so that I wouldnt bite my braces off (i have an overbite) ....

Ive heard bad things about turbos.. people say that they prevent your teeth from sitting together properly cause the turbos are forcing your teeth not to touch. Any thoughts?

And do you usually get elastics when you have both sets of braces on?

You might get the elastics right away or later. I got after 9 months into treatment. I guess as you have deepbote you will get them in some point...

Turbos are a pain, but you'll find a way to adjust and you'll forget about them. I've had them my entire treatment time.

It was the fate of having to get turbos behind by front teeth that made me regret getting braces for 2-3 days.

They made me so miserable, while I'm still not fond of them you get used to them being there and just go on living.

I'll admit I'm going to have a party when they come off!

I got them on yesterday, and already Im sick of them!!! NONE of my teeth touch anymore, its almost like im holding my jaw open! I cant figure out how to eat..unless its something thick like a donut, I cant bite down on it to chew it up, so i just end up swallowing it whole!!

Dumb question, but I just got my braces last week and having a deep over bite, my ortho put these coloured extra fillings on my molars to prevent me from biting down. Are these turbos? If not, what do they look like? I can't seem to find that much information on them for some reason.

I have the same things on my molars (though I've been wearing the one on the left down and have had it built up again). I've seen them called molar build-ups most commonly. In my case, I don't think I could have used turbos because my lower front teeth aren't lined up enough.
