Question regarding correct bites :)

#1 Post by ripchord »

When I first got my braces, I had a very deep bite (my ortho said it was 90%). Since, I've worn elastics from canine to canine and canine to bottom molar on both sides for 3 months. My bite has improved loads, but I'm anxious to know if it has been fully corrected. How do I know if my bite is perfect? Or is it something that is different for everyone?

I will say it is different for everyone. I think that we can tell when our bite has changed/ improved, but I guess your ortho will know better. When is your next adjustment? Ask your ortho what he thinks of the improvement.

My bite is completely crazy at the moment. I have been in elastics for 7 months and its not near to be perfect. I wish it felt almost perfect but not yet.

I hope you get good news and re-assurance on your next adjustment :)

thanks :) My next adjustment is the 14th so it's not too far away. He usually doesn't know how long I'll have them for but since my bite seems pretty good maybe he'll have a better idea. I'm so anxious to get these contraptions off! :D

I'm kind of in the same situation. I have had 3 different elastic configurations since May. My bite feels so much better, actually pretty much perfect, but there are still a lot of gaps on one side. 5 weeks ago at my last appointment the gaps were pretty much the same and the ortho said the elastic was supposed to close them up. I've been wearing them faithfully. Although, I can feel the elastics working my teeth look the same to me.

I'm hoping that our elastics are doing their job. I hope you get a good report from your ortho on your bite!
