At my last adjustment my orthodontist told me that after next adjustment I'll have my last bracket installted... And I asked back what's that mean and the staff told me that the last bracket is the attaching bracket on molar behind the teeth with molarband.. and getting my teeth straighten out..
Does anybody have any idea how long after last bracket the treatment is done? And does last bracket mean major treatment is done?
*** treating for overjet overbit
*** 4 premolar removed
*** 11 months with metal braces. Estimated treament time 20-24 months.

Not all of my teeth received brackets when I was first banded. After several months of treatment, my ortho added brackets to my second molars. This didn't mean that I was close to being finished. Maybe by "last" brackets, he (or she) means that those will be the last of your teeth that will be getting brackets. I don't think a "last bracket" means the same thing as a "finishing wire" which is what you get when you're almost done with treatment.

To be more specific with 'Last Bracket', usually people get all their teeth glued with bracket except for last 4 molars. Orthdontist put the metal band on your moalars and teeth behind the molarband are naked til the end.. When teeth are moving in directions, 4 naked teeth will need to follow and be placed later on so they would eventually put the bracket on all your teeth.. I'm sure not sure when that happends if majority of treatment is done.
I just had this done yesterday. Make sure you have plenty of wax.
My teeth are really aching today, they must be really moving.
I think my ortho was saying he did it to line up the molars better. They did need it because the molars in the back that weren't in brackets were not lined up with the rest of the teeth. I'm not sure at what stage they do this.
Make sure you plan a little extra time for your appointment and have soft foods on hand in case you need them. Good luck!
