Hi I've just had my braces on for the last two weeks, horrific pain for the first two weeks but now they feel okay and don't feel like they're doing anything? Anyone had a similar experience?

Yes that was exactly the case with me. I never thought the pain would go away at first but luckily it did, just like everyone said it would. Just because it doesn't hurt like it did in the beginning, doesn't mean they're not moving. It just means your mouth has adjusted to the pain.

I can now echo what I've seen repeatedly in this forum: everyone's journey is different.
For me, I had zero pain when I got my braces on. I was wondering if my teeth would move at all... Now, (tomorrow is the end of my 6th week) -- my teeth are killing me! Especially the 4 teeth on top, in front.
So -- go figure!
I'm sure my pain will subside (as will your pain), but I sure thought it'd be the other way around: pain first, then comfort!
Congrats on the braces!

I agree that everyone's journey is definitely different. However, what you're describing sounds really normal to me. Basically, when your braces are applied, your teeth, which are used to NOT having any pressure on them, suddenly have all this force pushing on them and it NEVER stops. After a couple of weeks, your teeth get used to the pressure and accept it as normal.
Have you ever stood in a doorway and pushed the backs of your hands against the sides of the doorway for about 30 seconds? When you step out of the doorway, your arms rise up a little cause they're now USED to the way the muscles feel when they're pushing against something. It's just like that!
Although it doesn't seem like EVERYONE has this particular problem, don't be surprised if your teeth actually ache a little when appliances are REMOVED for a few minutes during an adjustment. When they changed my powerchains at my last appointment, I actually wanted them to put them back on, because my teeth had gotten used to the constant pull and when they took it away, it suddenly hurt. I've read a couple of other people mentioning the same problem when their wires are changed. My wires haven't been changed yet, but I'm fully expecting it will probably ache a little for those few minutes when I have no wire.
