Nail-biting

#1 Post by artprincess »

I have a horrible habit of nail-biting and when I had braces as a child, that forced me to kick my habit and as soon as the braces were of..f I started up again and this has caused my right front tooth to move back from the nailbiting forces. Does anyone have any home remedies for kicking this habit?

well yea I knew that it's impossible to bite them with braces...that is common sense. I looked at the thread. I asked for HOME REMEDIES not ortho appliances to help kick the habit before i get braces again.

I'm a lifelong nail-biter, and I've actually managed to figure out how to bite my nails even with the braces on! I carry a nail clipper/file with me everywhere and take care of any rough edges/hangnails immediately, and I try to moisturize my hands a lot and wear clear polish to make them look nice (which makes me not want to bite). I also try to keep my hands busy so I don't get distracted and bite (I knit, and that helps a lot). I've tried the foul-tasting polish stuff and it doesn't work - I just try to figure out why and when I bite them and avoid those situations.

Thanks have just read all the stuff about nail biting and thought I was alone, I am a dreadful habitual nail biter and since being braced top and botton three weeks ago have been unable to do so. Am taking this opportunity to break nasty habit but have just had to invest in some nail strengthening solution as they are already breaking from years of abuse and are wondering what's been going ton for the last three weeks, I'm seeing it as a bonus as was beginning to wonder if I would ever be able to stop biting my nails!!
