Finally braced for one day.

#1 Post by soniabaldeo »

Hi everybody. I must say this forum is so helpful.

Fixing of my braces went perfectly well. It finish around 6PM. I did not experience any pain during the process. I did take two advil and put lots of vaseline on my lip. I did not feel any discomfort. It takes only like 40 mins to put both top and bottom on. I get the clear on the top and metal on the bottom.

The clear is very small and very discreet. (Not sure what type it is) My close friend at work didn't even notice i had it on and she talks to me all morning until i finally tell her.

The only discomfort i feel is the tightness in the teeth, that makes my teeth little sore. I can't bite down on them. I even came back to work today. And i am talking all day, cause that is my job. Being on the phone. I put the wax on the couple bottom one cause it start to affect the lip area. I am also drinking lots of water, it helps not getting the bracket stuck to the lip.

I eat some soft food for lunch (boil sweet patatoes). I drink like two bottle chocolate milk. It helps keep me full :).

Oh i also have to do take two teeth on both sides next week friday. The ortho did not put braces on those. My ortho was very nice. (I guess cause i am paying him so much money. He better be nice. lol).

My advice to those who want to go get braces is to do it. I feel like this is meant to happen. It feel right.

Good luck with your decision. I was freaking out before i went. After it fixed. I think i look cool in it. lol.

Congrats....I'm getting mine on in 2 hours and although I'm excited, I found myself getting anxious last night...thinking, "this is the last time for 2 years that I won't have to worry about what I eat....the last time I'll feel smoothness when I touch my tongue to my teeth...,etc."

BUT. There's no turning back now, and I don't want to. I've been thinking about doing this for years and today is finally the day.

I had extractions and they look terrible, so things can only get better from here, as far as the look of things.

hi soniabaldeo,

Congrats with your braces. The tightness and the initial biting down problems are absolutely normal and in a matter of relative short time you will get used to all this and not pay attention to it.

A great way to keep track of progress is to take monthly pics of your teeth. You will see a lot of movement in the beginning and I mean a lot! Taking pics is also a motivation booster when/if things start to slow down towards the end of your treatment.

Good luck
