Another milestone and it feels like I'm doing time

#1 Post by OzzysMom »

Just wanted to vent today!
Today marks my 2 years 6 month mark of having braces. I know I have come such a long way but it's getting to the point where it seems endless, especially since my surgery has come and gone.
I don't have a date for them to come off yet and I'm quite sure it will be a few more months at least. I'm just sooooo done with these things.
Thanks for listening!

I hear ya on the endless scenario, I'm only at the one year six month mark (and I have at least another year to go) and already I sometimes feel like you just described.
Perhaps your ortho will surprise you at your next appointment ? (we can always hope)

I'm at around 18 months and I'm DYING. I know I'm not going to have them off until around the end of the year. So...blah.

I actually have never asked my ortho for an estimate of when they're coming off. I'm afraid to, honestly. I might freak out if I don't like what I hear. :?

I hear you, OM! I was told 2 years, then that it could be cut back to 18 months, now it's more like 2 1/2 years plus! It's a roller coaster.

You guys are scaring me  !
I haven't even got mine on, and the sentence is "at least 2 years"...
I suppose that there are good days when you don't even remember them and bad days when it fells like they are suffocating you. I hope the good days are the overwhelming majority.
And in the end our beautiful straight teeth will make it all worth it  !

Well, what I thought would be 2-3 years has so far turned into 6 years and 8 months with no estimation of a removal date :( I wish I was in your scenario with it only being two years
Yes, I look froward to my orthodontist appointments :D

I also got the 2-years minimum comment from my ortho recently...

I'm only reaching 2-months as of this next week, but it's definitely something I hope I can avoid :)

I was told 18 - 24 months. April will be one year but my orthodontist said it is possible for me to be done by Christmas. I don't know how long it will be but I guess I am the exception to the rule because my braces don't really bother me!
2 Years 4 months 3 weeks and 4 days in full metal braces!

Is it just me or does it seem like they always give us an estimated debanding right around some big occasion in our lives? Like Jewles was saying, hopefully it will be before Christmas, New Years, and a birthday. My estimate is April this year and I am really hoping for them to be off before my birthday at the end of April and my 2 year wedding anniversary and hubby's birthday which are both in May. If they delay even a month or 2 I will have missed it all! Haha it is like torture waiting to find out my date
