So growing up my parents never had the money to get me braces that I really needed, to make a long story short, I have a great career now (going on two years!) and I can afford to get braces on my own!!!And I'm excited!! I see my regular dentist on april 21st to get my xrays and a refferal to the ortho, But i have a few questions.
My teeth look bad but there really not, #23 and 26 on the bottom are off but my worst tooth is the #10 on top. Its very embarassing to me because its crooked and in the wrong place!!!! My main question is can my #10 be braces or will they just want to do an implant? Ill post the link so you can see how bad my teeth "are" but i feel confident that they will eventually look great
Another problem is that my new career is a police officer, so should i get ceramics because i dont want to take anymore gruff on the street that i need to.And the pictures make my teeth look yellow but there actually very white, if someone could tell me how to take a good closeup I appreciate that to, lol

Thanks for any support, i cant wait to get this process started. Feel free to ask me any questions you need that will help me
What am I in for?!?

from what i understand, they'll probably pull that took thats so high up down...so it'll be even with the rest of them (if that's what #10 is...i don't understand the numbers, really...LOL).
Also, if you use the macro function on your camera (usually represented by a 'flower' looking icon), it will help take better close-ups. Also, with my camera, I've learned that if you push the button that takes the picture part of the way down, then listen for a beep (at least mine beeps), what you're doing is saying to the camera "i'm ready to take a picture; find the best focus" and when it beeps at you it's basically saying "okay. found it. take the picture" then you push the button all the way down...you get better pics. This may just be my camera, though...don't know.

Congratulations on making the decision to get braced! And on your new career, you sound very happy with it. Thank you for dedicating yourself to protecting us!Bucketfan75 wrote:Another problem is that my new career is a police officer, so should i get ceramics because i dont want to take anymore gruff on the street that i need to.
As for what type of braces to get, there are a lot of factors to consider besides looks. So you'll want to have a good talk with your ortho about the options. But if you're looking for discreet, ceramics or linguals seem to be good choices. There's lots of discussion on this topic, so if you spend some time reading posts about them, it will help you understand the pros and cons.
Good luck!
