? about one of my fillings

#1 Post by streetmaster »

One of my fillings is really getting on my last nerve, had the darn thing filled twice, and each time, its as if its gotten more sensitive than it was before i got it filled.

The first filling, part of it fell out, and it felt real sensitive when i would chew.

She redid it with a white filling two months ago, and told me that the filling might be to high.

The tooth seamed fine at first, but the past two weeks the darn thing has gotten even more sensitive to heat than cold.

I start to eat anything worm, and it starts to wig out just like a tooth ache, for a while plus its tough to chew with it.

She X-rayed the tooth before she redid it, and found it to be ok. So i guess my ? is, is this normal, how long does it take a tooth to settle down, because im saving money now so i can get started with my ortho treatment. :?:

hmmm it seems weird that its only begun to get sensitive again in the past two weeks. You say she x rayed it, but not sure if you meant when she did the tooth for the second time or just recently? you may try using something like sensodyne toothpaste. it won't work right away but its worth a shot. I used to have a lot of problems with sensitivity with my teeth towards various temperatures (for me cold was the worst) then i started using sensodyne and have noticed a big difference. If you are concerned you may want to ring your dentist up and see what they think if you should go in and see them. best of luck and hope things get resolved with your tooth. I know how that feels. I had a really bad problem with a tooth of mine in the past and i know how much of a bugger a tooth can be sometimes. best of luck!

I hate to say it but you may need a root canal. My tooth when examined appears ok as well in x-ray, I dont think that doesnt mean you may not need any treatment. If its throbbing and reacting to hot and cold I would check into this.:-( :(

fillings

#4 Post by oharabrat »

I had 5 cavities filled two weeks prior my braces last month. Only two are still a bit sensitive. Teeth can be sensitive for up to 2 months. I had a band put over one of my more complicated fillings and all is good so far. The sensitivity is dying off so Im just being patient.

If the filling is even a hair to high, it will cause pain. Remember your teeth are shifting around (whcih will shift your bite), so it seems likely that she may just need to file it a bit. You and have it checked, it will only take a minute to see if the filling is indeed interfering with the opposing tooth.

Yeah my filling might be a little to high, it might be a little to low, what do i know (LOL). But in any event, i cant keep going back to the dentist, because i dont have that kind of time.

If i could just snap my fingers and make the problem go away, that would be cool to, but i do remember though, while having it filled, the dentist told me that the tooth in ? was more involved than the others, because there was more decay to deal with.

Yeah if i try and chew anything at all, i can feel it pretty well, and if something as little as a seed gets wedged between the tooth in ? and the one on top of it, the darn thing hurts, plus it aches for quite some time.

I've had 6 fillings, all at the same time, and its the only one that i have any trouble with. Neither one of the other 5 even had problems with sensitivity to hot or cold.

Even if i grind my teeth a little, i can feel some aching with that tooth, aches awhile then quites. But i did'nt have any problem with eating hot foods and the tooth aching really bad, untill i started playing around with grinding my teeth. Could i have done somthing to the tooth that would cause it to get more sensitive.
