I got a adjustment on Saturdday & the new wire my ortho put on has loops on the sides 2 up & 2 down. Why is this? I would have asked him but I didnt get a chance to look at my teeth until I got home & I noticed them.
If you click on the link I have at the bottom of my post for my braces story, you can see my most recent pics and my archwires have loops in them. Are these the same things you have? If so, I did an explanation (probably not very good but I gave it my best shot) for someone else who had asked.
I have the loops also and they're called closing loops. I've only had them for about 5 weeks, since my last appointment, and they are kind of annoying - they capture even MORE food - just what we need! But they do work.

Idk I didnt have any teeth extracted. I do have gaps between my 4 front teeth but since they put these loops on my wire it looks like my gaps have gotten bigger so I dont know why they call them closing loops b/c they havent closed anything
