Pulling teeth forward with elastic

#1 Post by Zephyr »

Hi, I had my second adjustment today and the ortho tied a piece of elastic to each of the brackets on my lateral incisors and then secured this tightly to the archwire. These 2 teeth aren't attached to the archwire yet and he wants to pull them into the gaps created using the spring coils.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this as I've never heard of it before and I'm curious. All I know so far is that it hurts, I now have pushing and pulling pain!

Yes I had exactly the same thing done, but on my canines instead.
If you click the "www" you can check out some pictures I posted of it there.

It worked great but was very painful!
