A funny date

Hello all,
I'm 33 and I have just reached my nine month mark and I think that I am almost used to my braces by now :D It's exciting!!! I walk with such confidence!

So my best friend thought that it was time that I got out more. So she set me up with someone she called a "wonderful guy" We didn't go out right away because of a serious conflict in schedules. We spent time on the phone for close to a month and I began to agree with her assessment.

So yesterday we finally met up and he said to me in a very apologetic way that there was something that he hadn't told me. He then looked down and mumbled that he hoped I wouldn't leave or treat him differently because of it. Naturally, I positioned myself for running away quickly down the street if at all necessary when he looked up and flashed a full set of ceramics at me and worriedly looked deep into my eyes, to see my reaction. He seemed extremely hurt as I threw back my head and laughed. I then looked HIM deep in the eyes and showed him my ceramic uppers and metal bottoms with bright purple ligs....

We went on to have a wonderful time with another date set for next week!!
Made me want to ask: Has anyone found that their braces has affected dating life either positively or negatively?

Is it possible (likely?) that one of the reasons your friend introduced you was because you both had braces? Not that that means you really have anything in common, but...

Were you surprised your friend didn't tell you?

Thanks for posting your experience! I just laughed out loud in my office. That was sneaky of your friend- but also very thoughtful! Hope you have many more fun dates with him!

It might have been the reason since she knows us both and it does seem odd that she didn't do it sooner. . .

Date number two went well. Bowling then dinner.

It's fun to be in a restaurant and discuss what to order in terms of the date of the next adjustment! Random fact: I had the steak as it's a good day to chew and I see the ortho this Monday :) .

This actually just might work....

Haha I had similar experience.

It was almost 2 yrs ago, I started seeing my current bf he's a wonderful guy. But like 2 months into the relationship he said he had something important to tell me but he didn't know how I would react to that.

Well I was thinking were he married or divorced with 5 kids or something or he was just out of jail....

He then told me he didn't tell me be4 but he would get braces and he was just waiting for his dental insurance to kick in

It was funny coz I was waiting for my dental insurance to kick in as well :) I did not have the guts to tell him I was gonna get braces I didn't know how he would react.

Everything worked out great now we all got braces but his treatment is faster but good for him.

Who woulda thought that a bunch of metal and ceramic would lead to what we all hope will be a great relationship!?! That's a funny story! Best of luck to you!

It'd be cool if he was on Archwired the whole time and you didn't know that you were online friends :)
