First adjustment - power chain!

I had my 1st adj last night and the infamous power chain was hooked round my left lower canine to bring it forward. Yikes, that hurt. I can already see the gap though. Also have a thicker archwire across the top. Not as bad as when I first got the braces on. The worst bit is having the pics taken afterwards. That is brutal! :x I have asked my ortho to send me the pictures so hope he will so you can see the progress. One month in, there has been a fair bit of movement! 8-)

YAY! Yep, those powerchains really do the trick for closing gaps!

Painful but so good to see it's for something! Have 3 extraction sites that need closing up. Don't think it will be too long though. I'm just hoping I don't have a small mouth at the end of it. All these posts have me a little concerned. My ortho did say that he didn't believe that self-ligating braces do away with the need for extraction. I have seen the finished model though and think it will be OK.

Nothing like a good power chain to put you in awful pain for a few days! Those things are magical though! I had one placed along my top teeth last month. Pretty much, all the gaps that were formed with my teeth shifting are gone. I guess the saying, "No pain, no gain" works here...but it's only temporary :)
