Loose tooth, will it fall out?

Today I was cleaning in between the brackets of my braces with my proxial brush. As I was removing the brush, the very tip of it caught the bracket attached to my left lateral incisor. My teeth were already loose as I have only been braced for 5 days now, but I'm worried the tooth will fall out. What should I do?

Loose tooth?

I have only been braced for 5 days now
My teeth are loose when adjustment time comes around. The teeth are supposed to be loose so they can move to their proper position. If you feel one tooth is way to lose make an apointment to get the bracket off or to where the tooth is secured and not being pulled or pushed in a way that will damage it.

I think you're missing the point. My teeth were loose, something I expected, but I just about ripped it out trying to move the proxial brush to the next bracket.

I've had braces on for 4 days now and none of my teeth feel that loose or as if one could fall out. If so - I'd call or visit my dentist or ortho office so I could have peace of mind.

Par for the course.

Eating and biting into food on the loose tooth will have more pressure. And it won't fall out. I bit into a fork, cracked the loose tooth and the it still stayed there

The thing is like a tree in the ground. the roots are gripping the earth underneath, the wind comes and shakes the tree and disturbs the ground above the roots, thus it wiggles. It's just the 'surface' or 'earth' that has been disturbed, the area above the roots has widened and you can move it around. But it's still planted firmly under all of that.

Juggle the concern people have about extractions. You picture dentists standing on the chair with a pair of pliars yanking and pulling and tugging to get the tooth out.

And here we are worried about a tooth brush bumping it and being concerned now it will fall out.

It's there to stay untill the dentist uses machinery to pull it out. You'll know if it's so loose that i't can simply fall out. And that won't be from anything you yourslef physically do.

My dentist had such a difficult time extracting a tooth that even though one of mine is pretty wiggly I'm still not worried it will come out. Plus I had a good cleaning on Monday and my dentist and hygienist weren't worried about it at all either.

I think I'll be alright. My tooth didn't feel this way until I HOOKED IT THE PROXIAL BRUSH... THE BRACES APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE TEETH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.

I'll give it more time and see if it tightens up. It's not a bad loose, just looser than it was before I HOOKED IT IN THE PROXIAL BRUSH.

It's related to the braces 8)

There's constant pressure on your teeth as they are being coaxed to move by the wire.

You can go ahead and push and pull your teeth while they are in braces forwards or backwards and you'll "hear" them. Squeak or click or your jaw pop. Whatever.

You'll be alright. Lots more exciting things to come, guaranteed after only 5 days. Just keepin mind all the above and don't worry too much.

I did this, and was worried I'd damaged the bracket as things felt "different". But after a day or 2, it felt back to normal. I think it was just my tooth/gum complaining that something had happened sharply, and it was just whinging a bit.

That said, I've got the 'average' braced-tooth looseness/pain sensation right now, it's the first time in the 5 weeks I've had my braces on. I've felt this before, before being braced (complex case, long and short of it is that, I don't have enough space in my mouth due to buried wisdom teeth), it's a horrible feeling. Strangely enough, it's not a bracketed tooth (only got front teeth up to 1st pre-molar braced on lowers right now), it's adjacent - my 2nd bicuspid. I'm a bad bruxist when I sleep, and it's this tooth that seems to bear the brunt of the pressure historically. It's been feeling off pretty much since adjustment on Monday (all they did was change ligs). My thought, is that the bracketed teeth are all moving happily, and this tooth is next door, feeling 'left out', and is being pushed about in a more uncontrolled fashion as it's not bracketed. If that's the case, I hope I get the rest of the brackets on next time!
