Got braces today...bite plate???
I'm Sarah, and I'm 26 years old...finally got braces today. I'm not too sore right now but I'm sure that'll change tomorrow. Anyway, I was wondering if someone could give me some advise. They put what I thought they called bite plates on two of my lower teeth to keep my top teeth from knocking the bottom braces off. It's not anything that can be removed, it's more like what a dentist uses for a filling. It's like a big "bumper"...does or has anyone else had these? Mine are really tall and keep me from closing my mouth to the point where I couldn't chew food if I wanted to.
Welcome to the board Sarahintx.
Those things on your lower teeth are molar build-ups, they are a real pain to get used to, but you will adapt and learn to chew with them. I had my molar build-ups for about 2 weeks short of a year, and had got to the point that I could eat normally with them after about 3 weeks of having them.
Hang in there, the first week or so is the worst.
