I had my damon braces put on a couple of weeks ago and have only just realised that there are half white, half metal ones available. Mine are all metal! How come I didn't get offered the good ones hmm?? I feel like I've been sold a first generation ipod when everyone knows the touch version is where it's at

sorry that you feel you got schnookered. I have the Damon 3 and think they are great. I had seen them here and researched them. I asked my ortho about them and he had experience with them and said he would order them for me.
I wore regular metal braces as a teenager and these seem much better for me.

I've got the normal metal Damons and they're fine. My ortho said I'm special because the Damons are more than the regular metal braces that aren't self-ligating...can't you feel special too?
I think Damons are discreet enough anyway

Hee hee @ crazybeautiful ok, I can feel special too
I'm fine about it really, just miffed that it wasn't even on the menu, so to speak! Bottom brackets on Thursday so I'll be fully metalled up!!

I almost had to talk my ortho in to putting the half-clear braces on the top. They don't like to use them at their office because the clear material wears and can make the doors hard to open and close. I currently have one door on one of my upper brackets stuck open, so it's tied off with a wire tie. Took a week or so to build up a callous for that.
Anyway, don't feel cheated. Had I really known what fun it can be to try to get a stuck door closed, I would have opted for the full metal ones up top.

I'm in the same boat. I have all metal (Damon 3mx's I think). I assumed that when my ortho said Damon I would be getting the hip half clear kind (damon 3's?), but only a week before did it dawn on me that there were two types of damon's, and instead I was getting the old school ones. I called him in a frenzy, but he was not willing to change and I still ended up with the all metals. I think some orthos prefer only working with certain types, and he said I needed all the strength of the only metal kind to fix my issues. Doh. But they really aren't bad. For some reason with my lower brackets I have two of the half clear- and they aren't a whole lot different.
Anyhow, I understand being caught off guard by using the out of date type, when there is something so much cooler available!

I had damon 3's on top and damon 3mx (all metal) on the bottom. The doors were definitely an issue with the damon 3's. The doors would open on their own and the wire would pop out. Sometimes I could get it back in, sometimes not. It was a real pain.
I have In-Ovation C's on top now and they are much better.

I have not had any door issues whatsoever with mine. Having worn standard brackets last time around, I really prefer the self ligating to having the ligatures.

The damon 3mx are self-ligating. They are just all metal - no ceramic.
The In-Ovation C's I have now are self-ligating also, but are mostly all white. They look even better than the Damon 3's.
